Multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in Kongreg8, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion and SQL injection attacks.
1) Input passed via the "groupname" and "groupdescription" parameters to index.php (when "pageAction" is set to "252" and "passthru" is set to "1") is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed.
2) Input passed via the "groupname" and "groupdescription" parameters to index.php (when "pageAction" is set to "252" and "passthru" is set to "1") is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities #1 and #2 requires permissions to add a group.
3) Input passed via the "firstname" and "surname" parameters to index.php (when "pageAction" is set to "101") is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed.
4) Input passed via "firstname" and "surname" parameters to index.php (when "pageAction" is set to "101") is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities #3 and #4 requires permissions to add a member.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.7.3. Other versions may also be affected.
